STATESVILLE – Mitchell Community College is gearing up for a night of eclectic jazz performances.

The free concert, dubbed “Jazz – America’s Music,” will provide a chronological overview of the genre, from Dixieland to fusion.

The ensemble of performers includes Joseph Trivette, artistic director and pianist; Matt Kendrick on bass; Dave Morgan on drums; Rick Simerly on trombone; Matt Vance on saxophone; and Rich Willey on trumpet.

The program was created to fill a need in southwestern Virginia for students and adults to hear live jazz.

The concert starts at 3 p.m Nov. 11 in Shearer Hall, 500 W. Broad St.
