CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte Folk Society will offer its annual Spencer-Bryant adult scholarship to the Swannanoa Gathering at Warren Wilson College this year.

Sara Spencer was the Central Piedmont Community College music department faculty sponsor, while Gene Bryant was the CPCC music department chair. The scholarship covers the $485 tuition fee and a $385 room and board fee. Winners choose from one of a number of week-long programs at the school this summer.

Eligible applicants are advanced adult students or performers of folk music, dance or folklore or those actively involved in supporting or preserving traditional and contemporary folk music and art. They must also be 22 and older and either a Charlotte Folk Society member or resident of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln or Union counties in N.C. or Lancaster or York counties in S.C.
