MOORESVILLE - Town leaders issued a proclamation Jan. 7 recognizing driver Brad Keselowski and Penske Racing winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship. Keselowski wasn't present at the meeting. A representative from Penske Racing accepted the proclamation.

The proclamation is as follows:
Proclamation honoring Penske Racing and Brad Keselowski

WHEREAS, the racing industry plays a vital and dynamic role in the economic health of the Town of Mooresville; and

WHEREAS, Penske Racing and Brad Keselowski won their first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship in the 2012 season; and

WHEREAS, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship brings pride and recognition to Penske Racing but also to the Mooresville citizens and fans; and

WHEREAS, this has been an exciting and successful racing season and we are proud of the accomplishments Penske Racing has achieved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the Town of Mooresville deem it an honor and pleasure to present this proclamation to Penske Racing and Brad Keselowski for winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship.
