MOORESVILLE – Town leaders proclaimed Feb. 13-17 as Power Team Week, encouraging the community to support the organization’s anti-drug campaign.

The proclamation is as follows:
Power Team Week

February 13-17, 2013

WHEREAS, The Power Team is a group of extraordinary athletes who have both delighted and inspired young people for over 30 years in over 30,000 school assemblies; and

WHEREAS, The Power Team has used their unique blend of athletic skill and uplifting message to prevent drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, suicide and encourage academic excellence; and

WHEREAS, knowing the best defense against substance use and abuse are education and awareness and believing the inspiration and motivation equals academic and personal achievement, The Power Team tackles the tough issues young people face today.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the Town of Mooresville, do hereby proclaim February 13-17, 2013 as Power Team Week and encourage all to support the efforts of this community-wide campaign: Avoiding the Drug Trap, The Power to Change the Community.
