STATESVILLE – Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Statesville man after finding 450 grams of high-grade marijuana, valued at $11,250, at his home, officials said.

The sheriff’s office says that it had received complaints from citizens that the suspect was in the business of manufacturing and selling marijuana in Iredell County. Detectives found items used to make and sell marijuana during the home search, officials said.

James Robert Berst, 57, of Watering Trough Road, was charged with maintaining a dwelling place for controlled substances, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and manufacture marijuana.

He was placed in the Iredell County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
